This month, Birchbox crafted boxes with Women’s Health Magazine themed Power Up, focusing on beauty wellness and health. In addition to samples, subscribers received little booklets outlining the Power Up Challenge: 12 tips/tricks for “becoming the best you.”
Cheesy? Oh yeah, but done in an absolutely adorable way that actually felt super necessary and convicting for me right now.
I had a really good box this month with a ton of variety. (So good, my debit card may see an online order in its near future.)
I want a candle, bubble bath, laundry detergent, and lip balm all smelling like this lotion sample. With olive oil, avocado oil, and shea butter, this Field-to-Vanity lotion is GMO free and feels as incredible as it smells (I’m a major sucker for body creams with a shea butter base.) Super light, super summery, and it leaves skin super buttery and smooth. I will likely soon be the owner of a full-size bottle.
I don’t typically feel affected by shower gels of this kind with promises to “wake you up in the morning.” I’m a morning person anyway. To me, this was just a very basic shower gel that didn’t lather enough to feel like it was working. I couldn’t decide how I felt about the scent, so I sought other consumer’s reviews out of curiosity on the topic. I found them to be crazy mixed –love or hate. Overall, it just didn’t do it for me.
I don’t think I’ve tried a colored eye pencil since high school when I thought I looked really good in purple. A neutrals addict, I decided to not write off this eyeliner simply because I lack the adventurous spunk to pick it up organically. So I gave it a shot, and was surprisingly pleased (a little bright/out of my comfort zone, I only used it across my top lashes, and toned it down slightly by setting it with a darker navy shadow using an angle brush.) I’m actually tempted to purchase the black or grey for everyday wear the consistency was so pleasing –incredibly smooth and blendable, the soft wax formula made for crazy easy application.
I had a bad experience once with a really cheap dry shampoo, completely swearing them off. After years of healing, my interest has slowly been peaked again, so I was honestly thrilled to find this little guy in my box this month. My good-sized sample can is already gone –I loved it. It was excellent for my fine hair as both a light texturizer and to revitalize second-day hair. Major win.
I didn’t actually try this one yet –I’m always slightly hesitant with facial cleansers –not wanting to rock the boat if I’m having a good, clear skin spell. While this guy has 4 out of 5 stars and some killer reviews, I may get brave enough to test him out soon.
I’d love to know what was in your Birchbox this month, or if you’ve tried any of the samples I got and what you thought about them. Comment below!
